History

Yarnton Protection Services Limited was started by Desmond Simpson in 1987. The Company began as a bureau desk within the family home based in Yarnton, Oxfordshire.

The Company first began doing only mobile patrols. Des Simpson worked alone with no other employees. He was responsible for the day to day running of the Company and the night shifts 7 days a week.

In 1990 the Company began to expand. Des was taking on static sites, and more mobile patrols and the need for Security Officers was necessary to cover the increasing workload.

As there was a continual growth of work Des also employed his wife, Shirley Simpson, to take responsibility for the accounts and general office duties.

The business moved from the family home to a small shed within Yarnton Nurseries Garden Centre. The Company operated from here for 3 years until moving to a larger purpose built unit on the same site.

By 1999 Des decided to go from a 'Small' Company to a Medium' Company. This meant another move for the business. Yarnton Protection Services Limited moved to the Begbroke Science Park and took over a detached Unit at the front of the site.

This has become the registered offices of Yarnton Protection Services Limited.

In May 2003 Des' daughter, Zara Simpson, was employed as Admin Supervisor. After being brought up with the Company it was no surprise to Des that his daughter was interested in continuing the business for him.

In late 2004 Zara was made a Director. This decision was made based on her commitment, loyalties and hard work that she had put into the Company, and the increase in profits that was clearly noticeable since her employment.

In August 2006 Des Simpson made a firm decision to step back from the Company and leave all business decisions and the running of the business to Zara Simpson. This has lead to her promotion to Managing Director in September 2006.

We are still a family run business with Des Simpson still being the current Chairman. Shirley Simpson is the Company Secretary as well as a fellow Director.

Zara Simpson and Sam Graham have full control of the business. With a firm management structure in place and Mobile Supervisors to control the growing number of Security Personnel the Company continues to grow.

All Security personnel have been trained and licensed with the SIA (Security Industry Authority). This ensures that all our staff are within the Security standards.

The Company has continually grown since it was established, and has undergone extensive improvements throughout all areas, to ensure its consistency is current with new laws and regulations.

Yarnton Protection Services Limited has Quality Assurance with QMS. Our offices are audited on a regular basis and quality meetings are imperative. This was gained in December 2006 and we are currently striving towards other major accreditations to improve our services.
